Melissa & Eric’s wedding is and forever will be one of the most special weddings I have ever had the honor and pleasure of photographing. Melissa has been my best friend for 20 + years, and believe me when I say we have dreamed at length together about weddings and our future husbands since we were little girls!! I have stored those memories and musings in my heart, pondering the day my friend would get to experience all of those beautiful things in real life. Their wedding day could not have come together in a more perfect and fitting way. Melissa and her family and closest girlfriends got ready at the Pfister in the same room her sister Meghan had for her own wedding day. The couple was married at First Congregational Church in Wauwatosa (as were the bride’s parents) and were ushered out after their nuptials by a bagpiper in honor of Melissa’s Scottish heritage. Other personalized details included the family tartan on the men’s ties and bridesmaids bouquets, blue Scottish thistle in the floral arrangements to add a rustic pop to the elegant affair, and a surprise first dance with the bride’s father to “Mull of Kyntire” by Paul McCartney. Sound by Design carried the party well into the night with amazing dance tunes (including a Wisconsin Badger medley), and a fun photo booth. The best part of the day for me, and I am sure for many others, was getting to witness the love and friendship between Melissa & Eric. Above all of the beauty, elegance, fun, and celebration, what both Eric and Melissa remember & treasure most about their day isn’t the decor or even the merriment. Eric’s favorite memory of their wedding day was seeing his beautiful bride & best friend walk down the aisle in her dress, coming towards him, about to be his wife- truly breathtaking! Melissa’s favorite memory was reading Eric’s written vows the night before and anticipating the beginning of a lifetime with this man who truly loves, cherishes, and respects her.
